Tree ferns
DAVAO. Two tree ferns are left seared after land is prepared for farming in a mountain village in Barangay Eden in Davao City. There’s no guarantee that no tree fern was chopped down and burned while clearing the land. Fifteen species of tree ferns in the Philippines are listed as critically endangered, but with agricultural extension work not reaching the far villages, farmers till as they know how to, including slash and burn.
