Fixing Sto. Nino figures for a living
MAKEOVER. Gemma Sarvida, 53, and her daughter fix Santo Nino figures for a living. They do not earn much because customers come in only once a year, shortly before the Fiesta Senor when they see the need to give their images a fresh coat of paint and new cloaks. Earning only a few pesos for painstaking work, the Sarvidas set up a small work table on a sidewalk near the Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino because they cannot afford to rent space for a shop.
